Financing Collaboration between Bank OCBC NISP & AwanTunai is set to Encourage MSMEs to #MoveForward in time of Pandemic

7 Sep 2020

Jakarta, September 7th 2020 After officially signing the digital partnership program in February, Bank OCBC NISP is ready to disburse its credit channelling facilities to PT Simplefi Teknologi Indonesia (AwanTunai). This Supply Chain Financing product is available on Awan Tunai’s mobile application for small shop owners and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia.

The COVID-19 pandemic has strongly affected MSMEs in Indonesia. According to the survey conducted by International Labour Organization (ILO), 80% of MSMEs stated that their revenue had fallen sharply, 64% of MSMEs had been experiencing a shortage of raw materials and 90% of MSMEs had been experiencing a shortage in cash flow.1

"Understanding the major and crucial role of MSMEs to the economy, we believe an immense support is needed to help them persevere and survive this pandemic, especially by providing them with access to financial support. To encourage MSMEs to #MoveForward, Bank OCBC NISP is ready to distribute supply chain financing facilities for MSMEs through AwanTunai’s platform. We hope this collaboration between Bank OCBC NISP and AwanTunai could contribute in expanding access to financing," said Ka Jit, Director of Bank OCBC NISP.

Aligned with Bank OCBC NISP’s commitment, AwanTunai has also shared the same commitment to accelerate and empower Indonesian MSMEs, especially during this pandemic. "AwanTunai's collaboration with Bank OCBC NISP will enhance our commitment to provide affordable yet agile access to financing, so they (MSMEs) could continue to maintain and even improve their businesses amidst this pandemic. Starting in September 2020, together with Bank OCBC NISP, we will be providing supply chain financing facilities that could serve as an alternative solution for MSMEs to maintain their cash flow. With the official license from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) that we have obtained in June 2020, we are more confident to expand our support for MSMEs in Indonesia," said Dino Setiawan, Director of AwanTunai.

The distribution of this facility is also one of Bank OCBC NISP's efforts to realize its vision “to be the trusted partner in enriching quality of life”. This facility could become an alternative option for MSMEs to get ‘additional capital’ to supply their stocks of goods through a much easier and faster process. By utilizing digitalization, this supply chain financing could strengthen the financial health of their businesses, support their businesses, and accelerate the business growth of MSME entrepreneurs.

Previously, in accordance with OCBC NISP Ventura's (ONV) commitment to provide financial support to fintechs that have obtained licenses and registered in OJK, AwanTunai has received funding from ONV to expand its business. "Bank OCBC NISP's extensive experience in overcoming various crisis to build sustainable business in Indonesia, combined with the potential capabilities of fintech with its agility, is expected to provide transformative value in supporting MSMEs through these challenging situations as they grow and boost the Indonesia’s economy,” concluded Ka Jit.
