Phishing is increasingly widespread, using sophisticated methods to steal data and harm customers financially. Therefore, every customer must understand how to safeguard their personal information, exercise caution when transacting, and take immediate action upon receiving suspicious information.

The Importance of Protecting Personal Data

Personal data such as account number, debit/credit card number, CVV, user ID, password, PIN, OTP (One Time Password), and other sensitive information are the keys to accessing banking services. If this data is leaked or misused, it can lead to loss of funds and severe financial damage. For this reason, customer must never:

  • Use a secure internet connection and avoid unprotected public WiFi.
  • Never click on suspicious links received via email or text messages, as they may be phishing attempts.

Beyond protecting data and exercising caution, customers are advised to:

  • Use strong passwords combining uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Change passwords regularly and avoid reusing the same password across multiple accounts.
  • Activate two-factor authentication (2FA) for additional security layers on banking applications.
  • Keep devices updated with the latest antivirus and operating system patches to prevent malware infections.
  • Be wary of offers that seem too good to be true or that suddenly request personal information.
  • Keep important contact information, such as the bank’s contact center phone number, saved separately and easily accessible.
