UPRINTIS Indonesia Conduct 'Women Empowerment Acceleration Class with Bank OCBC NISP'

Surabaya, 24 November 2022 – Highlighting commitment in empowering women in business, Bank OCBC NISP and UPRINTIS Indonesia signed a partnership agreement that supports women MSME to be able to expand and run their business sustainably. The partnership program will be a form of acceleration classes that will empower women to scale up their business knowledge and opportunity to have more financial access.

According to the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises data, the contribution of MSMEs to the State's National Income reached 61.1% in 2021. Moreover, most MSMEs (64.5% or 37 million) in Indonesia are managed by women, so the role of women's MSMEs in supporting Indonesia's economy is very significant.

Jenny Hartanto, National Network Head B Bank OCBC NISP stated that to support women to become the center stage of the economy, the Bank owned #TAYTB Women Warriors program, which is not only help them to manage & develop their business, but also provides support in the form of educational and community activities to share knowledge and experience. Apart from that, we are also actively collaborating with various parties, including UPRINTIS Indonesia as a facilitator for women's economic development in the ‘Kelas Akselerasi Perempuan Desa Berdaya’ program to increase regional Communal Branding potential."

By participating the class, Women MSMEs in East Java will gain additional knowledge and skills, as well as business capital through the #TAYTB Women Warriors program; a financial solution for women entrepreneurs that combines individual and business needs that is supported by beyond banking services. Through this program, the bank continues disbursing loans amounting to IDR3.0 trillion or has increased by 38.2% YoY as of 30 September 2022.

Dr. Andromeda Qomariah, M.M., as the East Java Province Head of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises as a speaker at the talk show entitled 'The Role of Women's MSMEs to Become Economic Heroes for the Family and the Country' appreciated the collaboration between Bank OCBC NISP and UPRINTIS Indonesia and said "In 2021, economy contribution of cooperatives and MSMEs in East Java is 57.81%. Moreover, 9.78 million of them are MSMEs, including womenpreneurs in the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors. Based on the 2016 economic census, 45.85% of MSMEs in the non-agricultural sector were driven by women. In addition, based on employment data released by BPS, the female Labor Force Participation Rate continues to show an increase with 57.28% per August. Hence, women have an important role in economic development, especially in East Java.”

“Amid the pandemic, more women MSMEs emerged and continued to innovate in order to survive. Thus, their presence is beneficial for economic recovery in East Java. Through UPRINTIS Indonesia and Bank OCBC NISP’s program, I hope they can continue to innovate in improving the quality of their products so that they are more creative, and as the impact, their business selling power is higher," added Dr. Andromeda Qomariah, M.M.
