Jakarta, February 6th, 2020 – Aligned with “Beyond Banking” strategy to cater people’s growing needs, Bank OCBC NISP has officially launched its subsidiary, a venture capital company, called OCBC NISP Ventura. As of January 10th, 2020, OCBC NISP Ventura has obtained operational licenses from Indonesian Financial Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan) through letter No. S-114/NB.111/2020. OCBC NISP Ventura will focus on promoting Indonesia’s financial inclusion by leveraging the synergy between banking sector and start-ups companies as well as MSMEs in Indonesia.

This strategy aims to transform the banking sector by creating a digital ecosystem, which aligned with our ambition in growing Indonesia’s economy. With OCBC NISP Ventura as part of ‘Beyond Banking’ strategy, we expect to create transformative value by maximizing the potential of entrepreneurs and start-ups in Indonesia. OCBC NISP Ventura has been established with an allocated capital of IDR 400 Billion, with 99.9% ownership by Bank OCBC NISP," said Parwati Surjaudaja, President Director of Bank OCBC NISP.

 

Through OCBC NISP Ventura, Bank OCBC NISP opens up opportunities to create synergy and collaboration with start-up companies. Investee will obtain access towards our vast network of customers and branches, along with the knowledge and skills from financial industry experts in Bank OCBC NISP, which has operated for more than 78 years in serving Indonesian banking needs. This collaboration is expected to support the MSMEs and start-ups companies’ operational activities and development, especially in terms of financial management.

 

Bank OCBC NISP has appointed Darryl Ratulangi as Managing Director in charge of carrying OCBC NISP Ventura’s vision and mission. “OCBC NISP Ventura aims to promote Indonesia’s economy by empowering MSMEs and investing in tech-based start-ups. On top of funding, OCBC NISP Ventura also commits to provide incubation program and partnership to combine start-up’s agility with the vast banking network,” Darryl explained.

 

Supported by an experienced team that is committed in creating transformative value (value creation), OCBC NISP Ventura focuses on founders and entrepreneurs who aspire to grow Indonesia's digital ecosystem. At the moment, OCBC NISP Ventura aims to disburse seed to Series-A funding for start-ups who engage in property, fintech, logistic, media, health, education, data analytics, e-commerce and on-demand businesses. “We want to partner with the entrepreneurs who embrace their passion, address challenges and pursue opportunities.
