Women-led MSMEs are one of the key pillars of Indonesia’s economy. Beyond contributing to economic growth, women entrepreneurs also play a significant role in supporting the welfare of their families and communities. However, many women business owners still face challenges in managing their business finances sustainably.
Responding to this need, OCBC introduced the OCBCPreneurship Boardgame for Women MSMEs, which was conducted in two training batches. The program was designed to enhance financial literacy and strengthen business management capabilities through a practical and easy-to-understand learning approach.
The participating business largely operate in the craft and culinary sectors, with many of them based in the Tangerang area, reflecting the strong presence of women-led creative and food-based enterprises in the region.
In its implementation, OCBC collaborated with Krealogi to engage participants in a series of business finance training sessions and workshops. The materials covered cash flow management, basic financial planning, the separation of personal and business finances, as well as making more informed and responsible financial decisions.
What makes this program unique is the use of a financial board game as a learning medium. Through interactive simulations of personal and business financial management, participants were encouraged to understand the impact of each financial decision, develop strategic thinking skills and learn from shared experiences and discussions with fellow MSME owners.
As a form of appreciation and motivation, the program was complemented by a business innovation competition after the completion of the workshops and board game sessions. The three participants with the best business plans received support that can be utilized to further develop their businesses, helping to promote long-term sustainability and growth.
Through the OCBCPreneurship Boardgame, OCBC hopes to foster the financial independence of women-led MSMEs, strengthen their confidence in managing their businesses, and contribute to the development of a more inclusive and sustainable MSME ecosystem in Indonesia.
